Bruce Templeman is from Hyattsville, Maryland, and entered the Marine Corps in May 1978. He served as a Marine on active duty and then again, in the Marine Reserve until January 1984 when he joined the District of Columbia Air National Guard. He was assigned to the 113th Tactical Fighter Wing, where he served as a traditional Guard member until July 1989. He was appointed as the full-time active duty Base Services Technician in September 1989. His background includes various duties in food service, security, lodging management, mortuary affairs, logistics, and readiness. His assignments included Marine Barracks, NAS Norfolk, VA, Det. 3, H & S Co., 8th Tank Bn, 4thMarDiv, Syracuse NY, and 113th Services Flight, Andrews AFB, MD. He deployed in support of operations Southern Watch, Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. His final deployment took him to Iraq, where he spent six months (Oct 06-April 07) as the Services Superintendent of the 557th Expeditionary RED HORSE Squadron, managing the Services operations of a collocated operating base (COB) as well as participating in the planning and execution of building a bare base for the Army surge in operations. He was the Food Service Liaison for the 2009 Presidential Inauguration where he coordinated the feeding of 5,000 National Guard personnel at 17 locations throughout the National Capital region. He spent 2010 as a Unit Compliance Inspector for ANG Services units. He retired in 2011 with 32 years of military service. He is now active as a Civilian Liaison Volunteer with the US Embassy Bangkok, The Lions Club (Brandywine, MD), the American Legion (Ubon), and his VFW Post 10217 in Korat.
